About
Anderson

UX & Product Design Manager — systems thinker, AI-driven builder, and people-focused leader.

Portrait of Anderson Bier

UX and Product Designer with degrees in History and Product Design, bringing a unique interdisciplinary perspective to digital experiences. I leverage my humanities background to deeply understand the contextual frameworks, situational factors, and structural elements that shape user behavior and needs.

My approach recognizes a fundamental truth: while we bridge the gap between people and technology, we do so within the complex reality of human experience—a world rich with subjective perspectives, cultural nuances, and dynamic variables. This holistic understanding enables me to design solutions that resonate authentically with users in their real-world contexts.

Professional journey

From Humanities Scholar to Design Leader

My path into UX design began unexpectedly during my History degree, where I received a scholarship to design and lay out a digital magazine. That initial project expanded into developing the magazine’s publishing website, marking my first encounter with the intersection of content, design and user experience. It revealed that my true calling lay in applying the insights of the humanities rather than pursuing traditional academic work. This realization led me to pursue a second degree in Product Design, where I could channel my understanding of human behavior, context and narrative into tangible, user-centered solutions.

Evolution Through Design Disciplines

Beginning as a graphic designer working on magazines, books and print collateral, I developed a strong foundation in visual communication and information hierarchy. As digital platforms gained prominence, I transitioned into web design, creating websites and applications that required deeper consideration of user interaction and behavior. That natural progression led me to UX design: the space where my humanities background and design skills come together to shape useful solutions.

Comprehensive UX Expertise

Over the past decade, I have deliberately engaged with every phase of the design process: discovery research, user interviews, usability testing, design strategy and solution-making. I have developed design systems, collaborated across technical and business constraints, and advocated for user-centered thinking at every level of product development. This breadth of experience gives me a holistic understanding of how design decisions ripple through organizations and impact both users and business outcomes.

Transition to Strategic Leadership

Recently, my role has evolved from hands-on design execution to team leadership and strategic management. As a UX Manager, I focus on resource allocation, project prioritization and organizational alignment—translating design thinking into business language, building cases for UX investment, and developing frameworks that enable my team to work more effectively. The tools have changed, but the mission remains the same: keeping user needs central to product decisions at a broader organizational level.

Beyond the design desk

A Lifelong Reader

Outside of work, I am an avid reader with an insatiable curiosity that spans genres and disciplines. Literature, speculative fiction, History, Philosophy, Politics and Art History are all part of the mix. Reading is both a source of discovery and a way to encounter new perspectives—an interest that naturally complements UX design, where context, narrative and the human condition are essential to meaningful solutions.

Musical Expression

When I am not reading, I channel my creative energy into electric guitar, with a particular affection for Heavy Metal, Progressive Metal and their many variations. Jazz improvisation and classical compositions always find their way into the playlist too. Music, like design, is about understanding structure while leaving room for expression and experimentation.
